While in the past, most astrologers were engaged in "reading the future" for the wealthy and powerful, today many, if not most astrologers speak of not being able to foretell the future. They claim that their craft is one of aligning the individuals cycles to the cosmic cycles to improve ones life.

Forecasting, the word, actually derives from the practices of soothsayers and others, who would "cast" items on the ground and determine from the way that they landed what the future held for the interested party. Many of these people had as the basis of their ability the astronomical knowledge of their time in the form of astrology.

In the next chapters we will deal with the "houses of the zodiac" and "signs of the zodiac". If you are single, and attend certain functions, this information might help you answer that all important ice-breaker question: "Whats your sign?"

In Summation; and Into The Future
Up until this point we have been talking about the mechanics of astrology. There is a lot more to it than what has already been discussed. There is so much, in fact, that in a document twenty times or two hundred times the size of this we would still only be scratching the surface of the highly structured mechanics of the astrological system(s) devised and developed over the thousands of years of the history of astrology.

Hope For The Future - Closing Statement
We are, in great part, how we envision ourselves. Astrology is one possible tool to allow some who would otherwise not be able to view themselves as competent, to fully function in society. Even the basic premise of astrology; that we are an interactive participant in the entire universe, is an almost religiously empowering statement. It is almost a claim of the entire universe's dependency on you and your choices.
